When it comes to the holidays, I tend to go overboard. Usually, I get out the seasonal bins and stuff every inch of my apartment with Halloween pumpkins or Christmas figures. But this year, I’ve been wanting a clean and simple look that incorporates a few of my favorite holiday pieces. I recently discovered #ScandiStyle on Instagram, and I’m copying all the Halloween ideas.
If you haven’t heard of it before, ‘scandi’ is short for Scandinavian. The ‘scandi style’ is inspired by the simple aspects of Scandinavian design that combines minimalism with pretty home decor. Especially since I’m still working from home, having a space that doesn’t feel cluttered is important to me, so I’m trading in my mountains of pumpkins for a more subtle look this year.
If you’re looking for holiday decorating inspiration, these are a few of my favorite minimalist Halloween decor looks from Instagram.
I love that this space by Aliesha Porto doesn’t include any traditional orange decor pieces. The bats on the mantel garland and on the walls are festive enough to make this space Halloween-ready without straying from her existing home decor.
This setup from Arrow Town Designs is neutral enough to leave up all season long, but definitely fits in with minimalist Halloween decor. The ‘hello pumpkin’ sign and pretty leaf garland add some seasonal flair without overwhelming the space. Plus, both options are available to buy in her Etsy store!
These decorative wall bats by Amber from Pink Lemon Decor are my favorite way to decorate this season because of how easy and inexpensive they are. Just cut a few bats from black paper and use wall-safe tape ($3, Target) to attach them to the wall to decorate for Halloween without adding any clutter to the surfaces in your home.
An easy way to avoid clutter is to pick a few large-scale items and let them steal the show. This room styled by Viviana Venters is clearly decorated for Halloween with the addition of a friendly skeleton and large spider, but the space isn’t overwhelmed with a lot of small items.
Bring the scandi style to your front porch! While I typically do a large display with a wreath, a ton of pumpkins, and baskets of mums, I’m loving the simple welcome sign and addition of a few bats from Simply Living.
